A recipe calculation you can review
- Choose a matching CoFID record and review its nutrient definitions, or enter attributed supplier values. UK carbohydrate, source units and special energy components need evidence.
- Enter the measured finished edible yield. A volume declaration also needs a documented density; grams and millilitres are separate bases.
- Choose Great Britain or the ordinary Northern Ireland route, then review the source evidence, declaration and optional portion figures.
Calculation and marked drafts are available without an account. Full packaging, ingredient/allergen presentation, claims, exemptions and NIRMS eligibility need separate review. Every download stays marked “DRAFT — NOT FOR SALE”.
Worked example: a 250 g finished batch
Combine 100 g of a hypothetical ingredient with 150 g water, with a defined finished yield of 250 g. Divide it into five 50 g portions.
See the defined values for this illustration
Per 100 g of the ingredient: fat 10 g, saturates 2 g, carbohydrate 50 g, sugars 20 g, fibre 4 g, protein 8 g and sodium 400 mg. Water contributes zero to these defined nutrients. Polyols, erythritol, alcohol, organic acids and salatrims are assumed zero for this illustration; real ingredients need supporting evidence.
| Nutrient | Per 100 g | Per 50 g |
|---|---|---|
| Energy | 555 kJ / 132 kcal | 278 kJ / 66 kcal |
| Salt | 0.40 g | 0.20 g |
These defined values were checked with the calculator. They are an arithmetic example, not a food analysis or a complete approved label. Use your own source evidence and measured yield.
Sources and scope
The official CoFID 2021 publication and user guide explain the food-average source and its definitions. Review the UK nutrition labelling guidance for the declaration framework. A source match and a marked nutrition table do not establish complete package compliance. Final commercial artwork and product-specific requirements remain separate.
